I got a new wallet because my old one was getting pretty worn. I noticed a tag inside as I was transferring stuff into it...

What Body of Water Are You?
[info]crolack
You Are a Lake
You are inviting, friendly, and even playful. You are flexible and always up for fun.
You are downright cheerful and optimistic. You have a sparkling, radiant spirit.

You love relaxation and quiet. However, you are equally able to be entertaining and active.
You live a very well balanced life. People find you very easy to be around.

Lies, I tell ya, lies!

So I did get my acoustic bass guitar and realized that it's pretty quiet when using fingers, but it sounds good using a pick. I've never played bass with a pick before and it's kind of a new experience. With fingers, I know what string they're on because after I play a note, my finger ends up resting on the string below it. Well with a picks, it feels like my hand is just floating out their in space.

It just takes some time to get used to. Anyway, with the pick it sounded really good in practice on Tuesday. Two more practices to go before Sunday night when we play.

It's fun. Also, we have some songs with vocals, which I sing lead as well. Which is also fun. We talked on Tuesday about making this a regular thing.

Cool. It appears my acoustic bass will be delivered today.

So for a while my friends have been talking about getting together and playing some blue grass / Irish Folk music. We finally did on Tuesday night. We picked out a few songs for Talent night at my church on March 1st and we played. They really didn't have any bass tabs or music, but they did have chords and for bass guitar, it's just a matter of playing the notes in the chord one at a time. I surprised myself on how easily I picked up on it.

We'll have another practice next week, however, I got copied of the lead melodies and put them into my guitar program and then from that, knowing the chord, I was able to write my own bass lines. Guitar Pro (the name of the application I use) can play the music back using various instruments in its MIDI library, so it was pretty easy to make some bass lines because I could hear the main line and the bass line at the same time.

It's fun.

We'll see how it sounds when we get together next week. Meanwhile, it'll be a lot of practicing for me.

I bought an acoustic bass guitar, but it hasn't arrived yet and the tracking information hasn't changed, so I called the vendor and they'll put a trace on it. They said it could take 8 to 10 days. I hope not, I'd like to practice on the actual instrument that I'm going to use. Bluegrass is supposed to be acoustic only.

So I went to get my truck washed today and I watched this guy go to his car and actually inspect everything before he'd turn in his ticket to get his keys. And by inspect, he actually opened up all the door jams and the trunk to mark sure the jams, which only he or his passengers might notice, were clean.

I thought it was kinda shallow, shrug.

I turned on the TV and the insider was on, doing a story on Jessica Simpson's weight. Whatever, however, instead of overlaying the captions onto the screen to what she was saying at her concert, they changed the aspect ratio so that it compressed the screen (giving the captions their own box, instead of an overlay) which of course made her look short and fat.

So if you ever think that the media doesn't mess with your mind...think again...

Apparently it's Sting/Police day on my Zen player, because that's all the 'Random Album' setting is playing. :)

Wow.

So ends an era.

I made a single resolution. Improve my spiritual life. I believe if I do that, everything else will fall in line. So far I'm achieving what I set out to do.

Would you like a resolution?

How would you like an easy way to read the entire bible in a year (Old Testement once and New Testment twice)?

All you need to do is go here: http://www.tidings.org/readings.htm and sign up for the automatic notifications and you will get three links in a single email each day. You can read one in the morning, one at lunch and one in the evening. You can even select the version you wish to read. The mail goes out at midnight, so to start you'll have to display today's readings on the site.

Your email will only be used to send the day's readings, nothing else.

Screw it. It was a hobby. Something to do in my free time. Who cares if it takes a long time for me to write an area, if anything, I intercepted hundreds of player questions because I was un-idle.

I'll probably head to darkrifts.net 5000 to fill any coding urges I get.

edit: I got better things to do with my time, like chase a woman.

So, do I

A) Finish my area before New Year's Day and remain a wizard

or

B) Forget about it and just get nuked on New Year's Day, never to return?

I've got 9 rooms to finish and about 25 mobs and about 53 hours to do it.

Quiet.

The freeway was closed last night due to snow. It shutdown at my exit because that's where it starts a long incline and the next exit is buried in snow.

You don't know how noisy something is until it's not there.

Quiet.

I'm gonna miss that.
